I love this skirt but I haven't had the right occasion to wear it yet. When I moved I packed it away and only recently re-discovered it again. It's a little short on me (what else is new) but I think it works with the tights and sweater. I love this sweater, it reminds me of when my sisters and I would curl up in comfy sweaters and watch old movies on rainy days. Its soft and flattering and my favorite color. I keep waiting for the rain and wind and snow to come but I'm looking out the window right now and it's nothing but clear blue skies and sun. Its supposed to be 19 degrees tomorrow night so I'm crossing my fingers:) Rick and I are both feeling sick and yucky lately so maybe the weather is changing after all. Usually when I feel sick I just want to lay in bed and read or watch movies but I think today I will take advantage of the (hopefully) last sunny day for awhile. My puppy is in heat, which is another post in itself, so I think going to the park while cheer her up. We had to break down and buy her doggy diapers and I think she's depressed from all the giggling I do whenever I look at her. We had been debating breeding her and I suppose we were a little late with deciding! Rick mentioned all of the health benefits but all I could think about was puppies running around everywhere, and come on, who wouldn't want that.

dress//vintage | heels//kenneth cole
This is one of those dresses that you find in the store and carry around with you the whole time you're shopping. I had sold a dress similar to it on etsy a couple of years ago and it's haunted me ever since. Its a light velour type of fabric with perfect buttons and a belt. At first the sleeves were just a little too puffy but once I wore it for a little while, I fell in love. The salvation army here has a weird 'vintage' section with items by different vendors, and ever since I found a crocodile head there, I try to visit now and then. I usually bypass the rack of vintage clothes because there's never really any new items, but this time I looked and found this dress. I keep hoping I will find more taxidermy items but it's hit or miss. There was a giant moose head at Savers a couple of months ago for $400 and I've been kicking myself ever since for not having a separate savings account just for my odd impulse buys!

I'm like a walking advertisement for Target. I don't opt for the bright patterns or dresses from Target (or ever really!), but when it comes to basics, they're my go-to. I don't like having the same recognizable dress or sweater as everyone else in town, but if I need tank tops or nylons they never fail. I have a hard time spending $25+ on jeans but if the fit is perfect, I'll buy them. I have to have a high waist; my jeans always fall down because of my hips. It's much easier to throw on a dress that fits nice and nylons like in this outfit, but for work I need jeans that are durable and wont fall down when I lean over! The search continues..

plaid blouse//thrifted | sweater//thrifted | coat//charlotte russe | pants//old navy | combat boots//guess
I really cherish the moments and days that I can spend outside with Rick and Rontu, especially since our work schedules have been opposite lately. It snowed last week on the mountains so we decided to see if there was any left to play in. There was, in the shadows of the mountains that the sun seldom touches. I love the cold, the snow, rain, fog, so this made me even more excited for the upcoming snowstorms and thunderstorms. I dont get too many of these days with him so it was nice to be able to enjoy the little things, absorb the smells and sounds, and pay attention to nature's tiny details. I'm easily amused as it is, but I'm fascinated how getting outside and touching snow and leaves, listening for animals, and watching Rontu go absolutely crazy in the snow can so easily lift my spirits. I think I would have stayed up there all day if possible.

Pardon my dusty boots, but they are extremely well loved! They're comfy enough to wear all day at work and are durable enough for when we want to take a little hike. Also, I don't get why people don't wear more denim jackets. I love mine, I had to find one that fit perfectly and I finally did after much searching.. It's not too long, not too baggy, and not too heavy. This is pretty much a go-to outfit for me in autumn, when I don't have much time to put something together. Speaking of autumn, we turned our heater on for the first time today! There's snow on the sierra's and it's been raining for a couple of days now. I couldn't be happier!

shoes//vintage | shorts//thrifted | cardigan//vintage
Most of my clothes are thrifted, or found on etsy, although every now and then I'll shop online and get into some stores. I had a 'spring cleansing' and got rid of over half of my closet when I moved, saving only my very favorite and necessary items of clothing. It's going to be a sad, sad day when these shoes finally fall apart. They're already on their way and I've been wearing them less and less. T-straps and ankle straps, they're perfect. It's kind of hot, but cold in the night time right now so I'm in that weird in-between stage of figuring out whether or not I need to wear a sweater, or pants. I like to dress up now and then but honestly, I dress in jeans and a t shirt for work every day so it's rare that I get to go out and shop my closet for something to wear outside. It seems like I'm either working, sleeping, or cleaning and getting out to go do things is few and far between these days. We are going to see Insidious 2 tomorrow night though, which I'm beyond excited for.. the first movie was creepy until they showed the hoofed demon, not a fan of that makeup at all really, but the previews for the second one look decent :)

I'm really afraid of heights. My knees start shaking, so looking above my head and seeing all these people in tiny, fragile looking baskets dangerously close to power lines and houses and other balloons made my hands a little clammy. But I have decided that a hot air balloon ride has got to be absolutely amazing and probably the best way to conquer my fear. It's on my bucket list for sure. We got up at 4 this morning after not being able to fall asleep until 11 (R is such a trooper) and fought traffic to park in a neighborhood and walk up a hill to see the 'glow show' and dawn patrol. I've never really seen hot air balloons up close, so it's was interesting and I didn't mind the little sleep and cold breeze at all. I like to stay away from large crowds if I can so we didn't go down to the field and see them really up close, but they ended up coming almost right over our heads anyway so that was a treat. I was able to get a couple of shots with my knock off telephoto lens and they didn't turn out too bad.. we grabbed some breakfast at a place in town and on our way back, all of the rest of the balloons were in the air... it's a sight to see! There were so many little kids and it made me wish that I had been woken up and dragged to something cool like this when I was a kid... afterwards we grabbed some iced chais from our little place that we like to go to and did a little shopping, looked at some books... it was nice, I don't usually have Saturdays off and R never works weekends so I was really happy to be able to spend a whole day together. Plus I treated myself a little bit which I haven't been able to do in awhile :)
We ended with taking our pup to the park.. if you can't tell by these pictures, she's a huge ball of energy and if she doesn't get out and run she ends up chewing up my shoes, or the moulding on the walls, or the pillows, or decides to potty in the house out of anger.. she's been learning how to jump higher and higher, as you can see here.. !

You can't really tell in the photos...but this dress has the cutest vintage bicycle print and I just couldn't say no! Also, after editing these photos, I realized how badly I lost my tan lately... I turn a golden brown in the summer but lose it so quickly too, hopefully we can soak up some sun and swim the river before it gets too chilly!
