You will have to excuse my crazy bedhead top bun. Waking up & realizing you have to throw up is a horrible way to start the day. Throwing up 6 times is horrible. Being sick at all is horrible, really, but fortunately I'm feeling much better. And I received my ipsy bag in the mail today, which made it just a little more bearable. I used to have a birchbox but switched to ipsy because I kept getting items I just did not care for... there would be maybe one thing out of the box that I truly enjoyed. I haven't been disappointed with ipsy yet, although I've only received two boxes so far. Everything in them I love, and I use what was in July's box almost daily. There are other monthly box subscriptions I would like to get, like the PopSugar must have box, and Consciousbox. It's like christmas each month.. and I think R even got a little jealous when my shiny pink package showed up today:)
Michael Todd Pumpkin Mask. I'll be honest, this smells pretty bad. But if you've ever had a glycolic peel or enzyme treatment, you'll know that products that are good for your skin can't always smell delicious. I personally think pumpkin anything smells bad (I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin candles) and although I can devour an entire pumpkin pie, I gag a little when I pop the can open. The smell is not very strong, though, and it does leave your skin soft and smooth. The bilberry extract improves circulation and collagen production also. I do not suggest using any type of enzyme peel or mask more than once a week. I feel that this mask is fairly gentle, and less intense than a mask with bromelain enzymes, for instance, and I'm always fond of natural products with ingredients I can pronounce.
Smashbox photo finish foundation primer. I have used this before, and its truly one of my favorite primers. I don't use primer often, nor do I wear a lot of foundation in the first place, but it's nice if I'm going to be outside all day or doing my makeup for a special event. It isn't cakey like some primers I've used, and a little goes a long way.
Pixi lash boosting mascara. Okay. Personally, when it comes to mascara, I don't need to buy one that's over $10. They're all the same to me regardless of brand. I feel like the brush is the important part, and whether or not it burns my eyes when I'm cuddled up crying watching a sad movie. While I haven't tested it out on my tears yet, there really isn't anything special about the brush or the consistency.
Mica shimmer powder. I am a huge fan of highlighting, shimmer, bronzer, etc, and I think I let out the girliest 'oooh' ever when I put this on the back of my hand. My boyfriend said it looked like mermaid skin and well, he's right. The pigment is deep but it's not overbearing if I dust it over my cheekbones. Definitely replacing my current highlighter!
Urban Decay '69' lipstick. This is the tiniest little lipstick I've ever had! I personally would not have picked the color our myself, which was disappointing at first because I thought ipsy sorta chose products for you based on your profile you create.. but once I put it on I really, really liked it. It has a matte finish and the deep hot pink is pretty fun. I'm wearing it in the photo above, which was taken hours after application and lasted through dinner. In love:)
